One of the must visit natural attractions of San Salvador is the natural waterfall of Los Chorros. They are a series of refreshing and large natural pools from the overhanging volcanic cliffs. It is still unclear how long did it take for this site to develop, but the naturally crafted pools of clear water give the impression that clear water has always been there at these cliffs. The water cascading down the slopes fills numerous pools out of which only four pools are entitled for public use. The thick vegetation on the slopes provides a perfect surrounding and makes this place look like a scenic natural oasis. The vegetation consisting of flowers, ferns and dripping flowers gives it the look of a Hawaiian jungle paradise.
Out of the four pools available for public use, one pool is for children. One pool has slides in it while remaining two pools are left as they were to suit the natural surroundings. Los Chorros is a perfect place to sit back and relax surrounded by the flowing water pools and vibrant nature. A dip in the pool is sufficient to get rid off one’s weariness and fatigue. Los Chorros is a popular destination for day picnics for the local people as well as the tourists. Plenty of people visit this beautiful place during the week, but the number of people coming on weekends is even higher. There are also few food joints close by that also serve some local delicious cuisines. Due to the impressive landscape of Los Chorros, it was the location for the Miss Universe contest in 1975.
People can drive down to this place or there are buses and shuttles available too. Day time is the best to visit, relax and enjoy swimming in the natural spring water pools. Relaxation or picnic, any excuse is sufficient to enjoy a retreat at this stunning place which also makes it an appealing destination and a must visit for the tourists.
